DesktopPlus is compatible with the following operating systems:
Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 4
Windows 98
Windows ME
Windows NT 4 with Internet Explorer 4
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003
Note that on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4, DesktopPlus requires that Internet Explorer v4 is installed. This is to allow advanced features such as the Windows Desktop context menu and the pager control.
DesktopPlus remains idle throughout normal activity and mainly only uses CPU resources whilst switching between Virtual Desktops. Even then, the time taken to switch between desktops is dependant on the reaction time of the applications which own the windows on each desktop, rather than DesktopPlus itself.
DesktopPlus is equally as responsive on both low-end systems (~230Mhz) and high-end systems (3Ghz+).
There are no specific RAM requirements for any of the supported operating systems. However, it should be noted that when using a Virtual Desktop Manager, there is a tendency to have more windows open than usual and this may require more RAM. The amount of RAM should therefore be adjusted to suit the specific applications that will be running together with DesktopPlus.
A DesktopPlus installation requires 4Mb of disk space.
